A Night at Roy’s

A Night at Roy’s is not just a fun event. It also raises funds that our vital to our work. With support from the community, our MBF Child Safety Matters™ program reached over one million children throughout Florida this year and the program was recently launched for the first time outside of Florida in Dayton, Ohio.

As part of this year’s event, we kicked off the night with some seriously talented musicians: Colleen Orender from Nashville, as well as local young musicians Mack & Jack Hazel, Payton Woods & Wesley Monzon, and Jack Rosa. As delicious appetizers were being passed, attendees got to meet and greet with Master Chef and International Culinary Visionary, Roy Yamaguchi.

Our founder, Ed Burr, led the program for the evening with a few words about our history, mission and the MBF Child Safety Matters program™, with Curtis Dvorak serving as the evening’s MC. Karen Wolfson, a retired teacher, joined the evening’s line-up, sharing the importance of the work that is done to protect children, “This program truly works and the children understand the safety rules and use them,” she said. “I’ve seen it work in the classroom and, as a volunteer at the Wolfson Children’s Hospital, I have seen the tragic effects of child abuse. This foundation is worthy of your support.”

Following their opening remarks, MG Orender led us in a spirited live auction – joined by Curtis and Blake Bortles himself, who helped instigate a frenzy of bidding. The evening closed with our Silent Auction, which hosted yet another exciting array of items, and more live music from our talented musicians.

We’d like to give a huge shout out and thanks to everyone who attended this year’s A Night at Roy’s. Because of your support, this year’s event was a huge success and with over 400 attendees, we are proud to say it was our biggest one yet! With your help, we’re continuing our mission to bring the MBF Child Safety Matters program to children across the state.

Thank you again for supporting MBF and being a champion of Child Safety. We will see you next year!
